CBE raise over €4,500 for ‘PROTECT the Children of Kenya’ Charity

Staff at CBE have raised €4,515 for the PROTECT the Children of Kenya charity during a recent fundraising event.

CBE’s 200 strong workforce came together and ran their annual ‘Guess the Score’ fundraiser for the Connacht GAA Senior Football Championship match between Mayo and Galway. CBE sponsored the prizes so that all proceeds raised would go directly to PROTECT the Children of Kenya.

There were 4 correct guesses of the final scoreline. The winners were Brian Murtagh, Bryan Sweeney, Kieran Walsh & Cian McGowan. Also, a special word of thanks must go to CBE’s Group Financial Director Seamus Murray for selling the most lines.

Founded in 2013 by Claremorris native Janet Corbin Hinchion, PROTECT the Children of Kenya aims to relieve poverty in the developing world with a particular focus on the issue of child labour. Based in Kitui, Kenya, the charity works with local NGO’s to prevent children from slave labour and prostitution by providing education and job placement programs for local children to gain realisable life-changing jobs.

PROTECT the Children of Kenya is CBE’s corporate charity partner and the money raised will help free 6 to 8 children from slavery and bring them into the education system changing their lives and the lives of their families in a very positive way forever. The charity also provides continuous support for the children and their families during and after the work placement.
