CBE Chairman Ger Concannon Addresses Gnó Mhaigh Eo Awards in Castlebar

CBE was proud to have our Chairman, Ger Concannon, honoured as the guest speaker at the Gnó Mhaigh Eo Awards, which took place last Friday evening in the TF Royal Hotel & Theatre, Castlebar.

The annual awards celebrate and recognise businesses across County Mayo that are actively incorporating the Irish language into their operations. Each year, the event highlights the commitment of local organisations who are promoting Gaeilge through signage, branding, business materials, websites, and Irish language services—ensuring that our native language continues to thrive in the commercial landscape.

This year’s awards also featured an impressive prize package valued at over €45,000, including advertising space, a design package, and a marketing course for the overall winner. The initiative provides a significant opportunity for businesses to further strengthen and expand their use of the Irish language.

During his address, Ger spoke about the importance of cultural pride in business and the positive impact of integrating Irish into everyday operations. He concluded his speech by congratulating all the award winners and wishing them every success in the future.

Ger closed with one of his favourite inspirational phrases:

“What the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.”
He noted that the most important word in that message is believe.

CBE congratulates all participants and winners and extends sincere appreciation to Gnó Mhaigh Eo for their continuous work in championing the Irish language in the business community. We were delighted to be part of such an inspiring and uplifting evening.
