Apple Pay launches in Ireland

Apple has launched its Apple Pay contacless service in Ireland today, 7th March 2017. This new service, available on the newer Apple products, will enable users to pay for goods or services in any location around the country that currently accepts contactless payments.

ApplePayLogoApple Pay is currently offered by KBC and Ulster Bank on their Credit and Debit cards and is Apple’s rival product to Google’s Android Pay that was launched in Ireland last year.

In order to use the service the users Credit or Debit card needs to be added to the Wallet app on the users Apple device. To pay for goods or services the user needs to hold their device close to the card reader with their thumb on the home button which then authorises the transaction.
